This adventure can be run with no other knowledge of the Parallax universe, and it’s fine to run as a first game for players. It’s not recommended as the first game for a new DM for two reasons.
1: If you are unfamiliar with how SARIL works, the concept of everything happening at once might be overwhelming for players that are used to the slow pace of other systems. As the DM it’s your job to make sure everyone knows what is about to happen, and ask them all what they want to do. In Beaky bois it didn’t cause too many issues if players forgot and just took their turn, but in Clone Cargo Crisis it does. When blasts start flying you have to act.
2: This is a one page setup scenario. It provides a cheat sheet for the players, maps, and minis, but there is very little fine detail. The DM has to read the sheet, get the important details, and then roll with the scenario as best they see fit.
This adventure can be run as a starting adventure before the adventures in the Parallax book, as one or two surviving clones can carry through to that story as either player characters or NPCs.
