May Update
All over the place this month, and late with my update. It is an actual update this month though, so YAY!
Roll20 Tomfoolery
I’m sure nobody cares but I actually did what I said I was going to do and made a video about learning some scripting. I think most of you might find that fact more impressive than what I actually managed to put together in Roll20.
I don’t know if any of that had a point, but I always wonder that about me vlogging and blogging.
Facebook, Twitter are both places I kind of exist. Maybe you should do something with that knowledge… NO! Not try to get me banned. What kind of evil lunatic are you. I just meant talk to me. Sheesh! Bye for now.
Happy Easter!
Happy Easter! (If you need this STL file just take it!)
A bit early but I’m going to lose internet for a few days so I thought I’d get this into the wind before then.
Remember when I said I was going to be sculpting that sci-fi guy. I ended up doing some other stuff instead. I think it should be pretty obvious by now that I juggle a number of disciplines and that often leads to some progressional acrobatics. I admit I just made up that term, but the road to release of SARIL is nothing like a straight line. I mean c’mon, It travels through fantasy worlds, outer space, and around time loops full of demons in the wild west.
One thing I did was update the SARIL website: tidied a few bits and bobs, but also fixed a number of issues it was having on phones specifically. It now looks significantly less terrible.
I realise this might look a little odd if you are using your phone right now. To all intents and purposes I’ve just posted a smaller screenshot of the same site you are on. Sorry if that causes a mental crisis, but just go with it.
Dragon Hearts
Happy Valentine’s Day! Well soonish, and only if you celebrate it.
Anyway, I made these little guys. Perhaps it’s a love letter to roleplaying in general? I could point you towards the Kickstarter to support me, but by the time you read this, that will be finished. I only ran it for 4 days, either because…
1: This was an artistic representation of the draconian power and nature a partner can have over your heart whilst understanding that love is fleeting…
or
2: I only made the models last week and still wanted people to have a few days to print and paint the models.
To come clean. I was testing out the new version of 3D coat and some of it’s new tools. One thing led to another and before you know it I had made a little dragon. Then I decided to give him a heart, but shouldn’t Dragons give little dragons a giant’s heart to munch on. Then I decided to make a Kobold Cupid. I’m sure there was some train of thought but who cares right. End result looks cool.
Since the Kickstarter will be over by now, we can now forget about that little disaster and move on to the bigger picture. SARIL is the bigger picture.
This is where I could really do with some support from you lot over at the SARIL Facebook page. It’s also worth noting that I’ll be running a Beta or two soon of the sci-fi space ship heist Scenario, so if you local and like the sound of that, let me know, especially if there is a group of 3-4 of you.
I’m also available on the dying platform known as Twitter where I occasionally scream nonsense into the void.
Merry Christmas!
OK. Talking about things before I do them didn’t last long. I am still making the crusaders though, but I got interrupted with a request to do these guys. Not specifically these guys, but winter themed light up minis. I did mention that it might happen right? Anyway. I did a little Kickstarter and then launched it at the worst possible time of year. It was supposed to be out a few days earlier but Kickstarter admin had different ideas. That’s life.

I also got my taxes done for the 2020-2021 year. I hate taxes so that’s all I’m going to say about it. Let’s move on. Here they are painted. Will I add more in the days after Christmas? Maybe?

I’m still mostly focused on SARIL as a larger project. It’s all mostly about locking down exact wording and layout at the moment. A tedious task compared to most but worthwhile, and definitely better than doing my taxes.
Still. Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to all of you., I exist on Twitter and Facebook if you need me for anything. Bye for now.
What’s Next? This?
HDVItrX043 News Adventure, SARIL, STL, TTRPG

Look! I’m talking about stuff I’m doing! Well, I’m talking about the some of the bits I already did within a larger thing I’m doing… baby steps, right?
Several people have asked me to do a few Christmas/winter themed light up models, but I had already started doing these guys. I might take a break for a week and still do a few Christmas models but it’s unlikely, because A: these guys are awesome!, and B: I’m really wanting to push towards the bigger picture, which has nothing to do with STL files or model painting, and is really all about creating new worlds, and new adventure experiences for the TTRPG community.
Before I talk a little more about that, here’s a render of a few of the models in the package.

So I decided that grey was getting boring and made a new render material. What I’m not bored of, is the SARIL system. Even after years of playing with it, testing it, and writing about it, I just get more and more excited about trying out new adventures. The minor downside is that every adventure needs to be written up and tested several times before release, but there are many willing adventurers that have helped me with this so far and I’m grateful for their continued support.
I’m going to have to release the SARIL to the general public in the fairly near future, but I’m taking a long run up. I’ve even set up a dedicated website and Facebook page for it, but I’m not sharing those so you can go try and find them by yourself for now.
If you really can’t find them, or just want to ask about something else, I exist on Twitter. Bye for now.
Post Halloween Special

I have a reputation for doing stuff and not talking about it much… Well, as much as I have a reputation at all. Let’s face it. I’m not well known even amongst the small circle of people who are aware of my existence. Anyway. I digress.
Once again I have quietly made a thing and then barely told anyone it exists. Following on from the last post I did, I created a bunch of Halloween themed minis that could light up. I did do this before Halloween, and I even ran a little Kickstarter for 5 days so that a few people might be aware of the stuff if they wanted it. The Kickstarter was funded thanks for asking, but I’m sure none of you care. Still here are some of the cool minis…

Isn’t that nice, you can stick an LED up their butts and have them glow! I’ll admit though, that white LEDs work a lot better than yellow ones after you paint them (the beholder looked way better with a white light rather than yellow). I also made a couple that were more DnD Halloween themed, specifically a pumpkin beholder, and a pumpkin mimic. On a side note, you’d think more mimics would pretend to be more common objects and hang out in places with a more readily available supply of food than a hundred year ago forgotten dungeon. Side note over, here they are…

Thinking about it, there was also the “sexy” witch. This wasn’t part of the Kickstarter. It was just a model that you got if you signed up for the newsletter. It’s a more difficult model to print and paint, whereas all of the models in the Kickstarter were pretty easy to print and paint even for novices, and mostly used contrast paints.

On the off chance that anyone still wants a set of these guys, or the more generic Halloween guys, then they are available at myminifactory.
I realize that last time I said “I’ll try to announce something interesting soonish” but that wasn’t this, yet still, I definitely shouldn’t have announced theses Halloween minis after the fact. So in light of that…
I’m making some crusader style knights at the moment. I’ll probably make another baby sized Kickstarter just for those… and a campfire why not. So there. I have told you about some future plans. Now I shall return to the doing of things instead of the talking about the doing of things. Bye for now.
I’ll just keep making stuff in the meantime. If you want to know what, ask. me on Twitter or something.
Let There be (S)light

To shine a little light on the subject, I’ve been experimenting with adding LEDs to a couple of the models I’ve been creating. It took a few iterations for me to be happy with the exact layout but the result is a glowing success. I’ll stop with the puns now since I’ve no doubt killed off a few of you already.
Currently, the electronics (dammit! that was unintentional) fit both a 2025 battery, or a 2032 battery. The trade off is that the former is a little loose, and the latter a pretty snug fit that makes it a tad tricky to get the battery out again.
When I say electronics, It’s just a battery with a little bit of tape on one half that slots into the gap around an LED. There are no wires. I won’t be able to get away with no wires if I continue on this path for the space ships later. those are going to need a wire unless the ships are big enough to house a battery, which most aren’t. I’m sure those who enjoy such things will be happy soldering a little wire or two so I’ll live with it.

I’ve also done a little furniture. I even painted a couple of bits as you can see. Nothing wild, just some generic modular bits 25mm wide so they take up the usual grid size for TTRPGs. I also did a bunch of logs. Amusingly, those simple objects took the most iterations of any model I’ve designed, not because they printed badly, just that I wanted to make them be ‘no supports’ and they were nightmarishly difficult to get off the build plate, especially on my Phrozon mini… which I’ve levelled at bellow zero… somehow.
Ah well, Nevermind. I’ll try to announce something interesting soonish, but I’m a social media dunce so I promise nothing. I’ll just keep making stuff in the meantime. If you want to know what, ask. me on Twitter or something.
